Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Program
The K-2 curriculum provides learning experiences through which each child acquires fundamental skills, abilities, and attitudes needed as a basis for all future learning. Emphasis is on the fundamentals of learning, as well as on the enrichment programs which are essential to the personal growth and development of each student. K-2 classes are self-contained with a maximum student:teacher ratio of 18:1. The reading program is phonetically-based and includes literature, spelling, composition, the development of auditory-visual perception, and the use of reading for meaning and for pleasure. Mathematics, social studies, science, and religion are also taught at each grade level. In addition, students have at least one enrichment class each day. These include art, music, computer, library, and physical education. Guest speakers, assemblies, and field trips provide additional enrichment throughout the year. Beginning in 2nd grade students are required to use a school-supplied student planner.
